Our Story
Tuffy and Sheila books were designed to share stories that educate and entertain young children ages PreK through Grade 1 in the areas of
health, nutrition, safety and science.
The authors of Tuffy and Sheila adventures are
Theresa Greene and Stephanie Greene. As sisters, they have spent their professional careers in education and medicine.
Theresa Greene, EdD
Theresa has a doctorate degree in Education and has spent more than 25 years in higher education and Early Child development, working closely with young children, their families, and the educators who support them. She has taught a wide range of early childhood courses at Central Texas College and Pacific Oaks College, and has held leadership roles at Pacific Oaks College and Volunteer State Community College. Her passion for child-centered learning deepened after visiting the renowned Reggio Emilia schools in Italy and collaborating with educators there. The Tuffy and Sheila book series was inspired by two lovable real-life family dogs. Through their playful adventures, Tuffy and Sheila help children understand important health and nutrition topics in a warm, comforting, and easy-to-understand way. Theresa enjoys the beach and traveling with her family and her loyal Australian Healer, Sheila.
Stephanie Greene, PhD
Stephanie is a scientist with more than 25 years of experience in pharmaceutical development, where she has focused on creating treatments for cancer, neurological and metabolic disorders, and pediatric health conditions. She holds multiple patents and currently manages clinical trials for a promising new oncology drug aimed at treating advanced tumors. Throughout her career, Stephanie has also served as an expert consultant, filing New Drug Applications with the U.S. FDA and international regulatory agencies, leading scientific teams, presenting at conferences, and publishing extensively in her field. She has also has shared her expertise as an adjunct professor and has guest lectured at UC Santa Barbara, USC, and several Honors Bioscience programs for high school students. Stephanie was inspired by her family's Saint Bernards and her passion for helping young children learn about health in a fun, friendly, and accessible way. She enjoys backpacking and traveling with her family and their loveable Saint Bernard, Tuffy.
